Merrimack baseball junior Cam Monagle played in the Old Time Baseball game last week in Cambridge.

The charity game is in its 24th year, and is organized by Boston Herald sportswriter Steve Buckley. The star player in this year’s game was former Red Sox pitcher and Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez. This year’s game was to benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute and longtime NESN videographer John Martin, who was recently diagnosed with ALS.

Monagle is a Cambridge native.

“For Pedro to take time out of his day to support this cause is surreal, but to also interact with all the fans and players is a new level,” said Monagle. “I’ve been a fan of him my whole life and this moment will forever be cherished knowing I was participating in the same game with him for the city that I love.”
