Ryan O’Rourke Undergoes Tommy John Surgery

Former Merrimack pitcher Ryan O’Rourke underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, according to several reports out of Minnesota.

O’Rourke, a reliever for the Minnesota Twins, had been out of action since the middle of spring training. It was revealed last week, after an MRI, that he would require surgery to heal his ailing elbow.

According to reports, New York Mets team doctor Dr. David Altchek performed the surgery. The Twins have turned to Altchek for Tommy John surgery a few times in the past.

The surgery will end O’Rourke’s 2017 season. There is hope that he could be ready to return during the spring of 2018.
