Miami University received a verbal commitment from ’03-born Red Savage earlier this week. Savage becomes the first ’03-born recruit to commit to a school, following his brother, Ryan Savage, to the Redhawks. Ryan is a ’00-born player and isn’t projected to arrive at Miami until 2019. Red is projected to arrive at Miami in 2021.

The 14-year-old savage is the son of former NHL’er Brian Savage, who played 674 NHL games, mostly for the Montreal Canadiens.

Brian Savage is a former Miami assistant captain who left the program in 1993 to sign with Montreal following his junior season.
