The Merrimack College football team will begin preparations for the 2018 season when the annual series of spring practices gets underway at Merrimack Stadium next Wednesday (April 4).

The Warriors will conduct 12 practices over the ensuing three weeks, culminating with the annual Navy-Gold Spring Game on Friday, April 27. Kickoff from Merrimack Stadium that evening is set for 7 p.m., and admission is free. Opportunities to purchase 2018 season tickets and season parking passes will be made available at the game, as well.

Merrimack finished the 2017 season off with a a 4-5 record in Northeast-10 Conference play and nearly upset Division I Bryant (49-41) early in the season. The Warriors won three of their last five games in convincing fashion and could be primed for a breakout season in 2018.

Highlights from the 2017 campaign included a third straight win over conference rival AIC, back-to-back resounding home wins over Pace and Saint Anselm to go 2-0 in the first-ever games played at Merrimack Stadium, and a season-concluding road victory against perennial power New Haven, the second straight road victory for the Warriors over the Chargers.

Merrimack returns 15 total starters from a team that boasted an offense that ranked No. 2 in the NE10 in both total offense and first downs per game, as well as the top-ranked rushing defense in the league.

Merrimack’s full 2018 season schedule will be unveiled in the weeks ahead prior to the Spring Game, and season ticket and parking information will also be available at that time.
