Lowell’s C.J. Smith Will Forego Senior Year, Signs with Buffalo Sabres

Massachusetts-Lowell forward C.J. Smith will forego his senior year after signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres today.

The 5-foot-11 Smith led the River Hawks in goals this season with 23, and was second with 51 points. Smith was also named the Hockey East Tournament MVP after leading Lowell to a championship with 4 goals and 8 points.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Smith finished his college career with 56 goals and 125 points in 120 games.
