The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team picked up a verbal commitment from Iona Prep’s Sebastian Gruber, a top faceoff player, who will arrive in 2018.

Gruber is listed at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds and is from New Rochelle, N.Y.

Gruber will arrive in time to help soften the blow of losing Blake Boudreau to graduation after the upcoming 2018 season. Boudreau was Merrimack’s top faceoff player this past season, winning 61.8 percent of the 382 faceoffs he took, and he was the second-best faceoff player statistically in the Northeast-10 last season. Boudreau was behind only Adelphi’s Mark Andrejack in the faceoff category.
