Merrimack’s Lovely Secures First-Ever NE10 Rookie of the Week Honor


NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman Drew Lovely (Weymouth, Mass.) of the Merrimack College men’s soccer team earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors, after he scored his first-career goal against Caldwell on Friday night, as the league office announced this afternoon.

The freshman back, who playing in his first college match of his career on Friday, scored on a scrum in front of the net following a free kick in the 40thminute of the game to add to a 1-0 Merrimack lead.  He then started against Molloy on Sunday at the center back position, playing in the entire contest. His contributions aided the No. 25 Warriors to a 2-0 weekend to begin the season.

Lovely and the rest of the Warriors heads to Bridgeport, Conn. to take on No. 9 LIU Post in the Purple Knight Classic on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
