Defenseman Matt McArdle Joins Merrimack as Graduate Transfer

The Merrimack men’s hockey program has picked up a graduate transfer from Lake Superior State. Defenseman Matt McArdle will join the team for his senior season after playing the last three years for the Lakers.

McArdle, 22, is originally from Maryland. Before joining the Lakers in 2015, he played for the Fargo Force (USHL) and Sioux City Musketeers (USHL). McArdle also attended the highly-regarded Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep School in Minnesota.

Over his first three years in Lake Superior, McArdle has appeared in 83 games, totaling one goal and adding nine assists from the blue line.

Ironically, Merrimack will open its season by hosting Lake Superior State this October. Under graduate-transfer rules, McArdle will be able to join the program immediately.
