CHESTNUT HILL — Boston College struck twice in the first period and never looked back, beating Merrimack 4-2 at Conte Forum last night. The win gave BC head coach Jerry York his 900th career win; York is just the second coach in history to hit the plateau.
“To get that win for Coach York here at Kelly Rink was important for us,” said BC captain Tommy Cross.
The Warriors were credited with just one shot in the first period and the Eagles’ two goals both came within a 2:02 stretch midway through the period.
The Warriors and Eagles will faceoff again tonight, at Merrimack’s Lawler Rink.
“The team that was ready to play at the get go won the game,” Merrimack head coach Mark Dennehy said. “I thought we continued to battle and got better as the game went on, but there are no moral victories. … They’re firing on all pistons right now and we need to make sure we are (tonight).”
