Josh Ciocco Joining Borek’s Staff at Merrimack

New Merrimack head coach Scott Borek, who confirmed on Wednesday that Curtis Carr will be remaining with the program as associate head coach, will also add Josh Ciocco as an assistant coach on the staff, according to TMR sources and also reported by Mark Divver of The Providence Journal.

Ciocco just completed his second season as an assistant coach at Brown University.

Ciocco, 34, is regarded as a bright young coach and a diligent recruiter. Ciocco played for Borek at UNH and is a former captain for the Wildcats. Ciocco began coaching in 2012 at Milton Academy and was then hired as an assistant coach at Alaska-Anchorage for three seasons (2013-16). Ciocco joined Brendan Whittet‘s staff at Brown in 2016.

At UAA, Ciocco spearheaded the program’s recruiting efforts. While with the Seawolves, he brought in WCHA All-Rookie Team honoree Wyatt Ege (who is now at Ohio State) and two-time Most Valuable Player, goaltender Olivier Mantha.
