Matt Holmes Selected by Tri-City in USHL Draft


Merrimack men’s hockey recruit Matt Holmes has been selected in the 11th round by the Tri-City Storm in Tuesday’s USHL Phase II Draft.

Holmes, a 5-foot-11 forward, had 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 25 games this past season for Salisbury Prep School. Holmes also appeared in 27 games for the Mid-Fairfield Blues U18 team in midget hockey, scoring 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists).

Holmes, a ’99, is from Rye, N.Y.

Fellow Merrimack recruits Declan Carlile (2nd round, Lincoln), Alex Jefferies (8th round, Dubuque) and Ethan DeStefani (11th round, Youngstown) were also drafted on Tuesday.
