Pantano Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

Merrimack junior goaltender Craig Pantano was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after backstopping the Warriors to a pair of overtime victories over UMass Lowell this past weekend in the opening round of the Hockey East playoffs.

Pantano posted a 1.19 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage on the weekend, stopping 62 of the 65 shots he faced. Facing UMass Lowell four games in a row, Pantano posted a 3-1-0 record with a 1.76 goals-against averaage and a .938 save percentage.

After sitting two games in early-February, Pantano returned to the lineup on Feb. 16; since his return, the Warriors are 4-2-0 and Pantano has a 2.02 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
