Recruits: Jonathan Young added to Youngstown’s USHL roster

Merrimack recruit Jonathan Young has been added to the main roster for the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) and could make his USHL debut as early as tomorrow night, when the Phantoms host Cedar Rapids. Youngstown will also host Cedar Rapids on Friday night before taking a two-week break for Christmas and returning to action on Dec. 28.

It’s not known if Young’s appointment is permanent and temporary; Youngstown will be without forward Curtis Hall (Yale commit) who is playing for Team USA at the World Jr. A Challenge.

A ’00-born forward from Pelham, N.H., Young has 10 points (1g-9a) in 22 games for the Islanders HC NCDC team this season. Last season Young captained the Islanders 16U team, scoring 16 goals and adding 34 assists in 27 games. Young was selected in the fifth round by the Phantoms this past summer in the USHL Entry Draft.
