Report: Moscow Pulls Deal For Da Costa, NHL Return Seems Likely

We’ve been reporting for the last several weeks that former Merrimack forward Stephane Da Costa was pursuing a return to the NHL. The likelihood of a return took a big step on Monday, with Aivis Kalniņš, a KHL insider, reporting that CSKA Moscow pulled its offer off the table.

Da Costa has been reportedly negotiating with the Montreal Canadiens. According to an NHL source, the Vegas Golden Knights have also expressed interest, which Kalniņš is also reporting.

Le Journal de Montreal reported on Thursday that the Montreal Canadiens are one of “a few” teams currently negotiating with Da Costa.

Prior to NHL free agency opening earlier this month, it was reported by TSN that Da Costa was intending on returning to the NHL after three seasons in the KHL, playing for CSKA Moscow.
