Training Camps Begin for Merrimack’s Three NHL Contracted Players

Three former Merrimack players are heading to NHL training camps this season …

Merrimack’s three NHL-contracted players will begin training camp this week, including Joe Cannata, who opens camp with the Colorado Avalanche today.

Hampus Gustafsson is on the roster for the Washington Capitals and Collin Delia, who just helped the Chicago Blackhawks win the Traverse City Rookie Tournament, will go to camp with the Blackhawks; both of those training camps open tomorrow.

Colorado’s preseason schedule begins on Monday at home against Las Vegas. The Capitals will hit the ice for their first preseason game on Monday at New Jersey and teh Blackhawks will open preseason play on Tuesday at Columbus.

The Blackhawks will play the Bruins twice in the preseason, including at TD Garden on Sept. 25. That’s the only potential local game for any of Merrimack’s former players.
