Rapid Recap

  • Senior Megan Cook had a strong start for the Warriors, striking out five in the first two innings.
  • Merrimack got on the board in the third. Junior Nicole Nanof reached on a double to center field with one out. She moved over on a fielder’s choice by senior Alyssa Williamson. With the delayed steal on, both runners were moving and Williamson was caught between second and third. That allowed Nanof to score from third and give Merrimack a 1-0 lead.
  • The Hawks broke up the no-hitter in the fourth inning and took the lead. After the leadoff batter was hit by a pitch, Megan Murrell ripped a double to left center to put runners in scoring position with no outs. Shannon Colson knocked in both runs with a blooper to right center, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead.
  • The Warriors tied the game in the fifth. A leadoff double by junior Hannah Johnson began the inning. She moved over on a sacrifice bunt, before scoring on a sacrifice fly Nanof.
  • Saint Anselm retook the lead in the home half of the fifth, thanks to a two-out single by Megan Murrell. That gave the home team a 3-2 lead.
  • The Warriors got the tying run on base in the sixth with Cook starting the inning off with a double. However, relief pitcher Morgan Perry came in and struck out the next six batters for a six-out save.
