Katelyn Rae named Women’s Hockey East Player of the Week

Merrimack College women’s ice hockey junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) earned her first Hockey East Player of the Week accolade of the season, as announced by the league Monday.

The junior forward registered five goals during a pair of games this past weekend against No. 9 Maine. On Friday, she scored the lone goal for the Warriors in a 4-1 setback. On Saturday, Rae tallied all four goals in a 4-2 upset win over the Black Bears. It was her third career hat trick.

On the year, Rae has a team-high 23 points on 18 goals through 27 games. Her 18 goals matches a career-high in a single season. She has also scored a goal in her last six games and has at least one point in her last nine games.

Rae and the rest of the Warriors have a home-and-home series with Boston University this week, beginning on Thursday night from Lawler Rink. Puck drop for that game is at 7 p.m.
