Merrimack’s Katelyn Rae Named All-Hockey East Honorable Mention

Merrimack College women’s ice hockey junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) was named to the Women’s Hockey East Association All-Star Honorable Mention Team, the league announced Friday night.

Rae had an unbelievable year during her junior campaign. She compiled the most points in a single-season by a Warrior player in program history with 30, while also leading the team in goals (20) and assists (10). She appeared in all 34 games for Merrimack, while registering a point in 21 games.

The Courtice, Ontario native led the team with five power play goals, three game-winning goals, and three short-handed goals. She had a nine-game point streak from November 25, 2017 through January 20, 2018, where she registered 15 points (13g, 2a). She had five multi-point games, including a four-goal performance during a 4-2 upset win over No. 9/9 Maine (1/20) on the road. She also scored at No. 3/3 Minnesota in the 4-3 shocker over the Gophers (9/29).

Rae was also named WHEA Player of the Week (1/22) after scoring five goals in a weekend series split with No. 9/9 Maine. Her 20 goals was a new career-high in a single season, while her 10 assists matched a career-high.
