Merrimack’s Ridgewell Named WHEA Defensive Player of the Week

Junior Samantha Ridgewell (Outlook, Saskatchewan) of the Merrimack College women’s ice hockey team has been named the Women’s Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday

The junior goalie guided the Warriors to a scoreless tie against No. 4/4 St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon, behind a season-high 42 save performance, including 20 saves in the third period. It was her first shutout of the season.

Ridgewell and the rest of the Warriors are back in action this weekend when they host B1G opponent Penn State for the first time on Friday and Saturday from Lawler Rink. Friday’s puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
