Cassie Giza Named NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior Cassie Giza (Orange, Conn.) of the Merrimack College women’s soccer team earned Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, after guiding the Warriors to a 2-0 record to the 2017 season, as the league office announced this afternoon.

The senior midfielder scored twice in Merrimack’s season-opening, 4-0 victory over Dominican College (N.Y.) on Friday. She had four shots, three of which landed on net in the game. Her first goal came in the 67th minute, with her second coming in the 80th minute.
