Head coach Jacky Mendes, “Once again, it was another great showing for Merrimack. The Warriors continue to take on the school record board and post some of the best performances in school history every week. We are very much looking forward to continuing to rack up personal bests and post season qualifying marks.”

How It Happened
Three weeks into their outdoor season, the Warriors continue to see student-athletes improving on personal bests and rewriting the school record board in a multitude of events. For the men, freshman Juwan Hall (Waterbury, Conn.), one of a handful off rookies who have burst onto the scene for Merrimack, posted a second-place finish in the 100m dash with a personal-best time of 11.04. The impressive mark ranks third on the school record board, is a New England qualifier, and ranks second in the Northeast-10 Conference this season.

Another one of those freshmen in Michael Cuesta (South Portland, Maine)  posted a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a 13.62m jump, the third best in program history. Cuesta would also be joined by juniors John Braga (North Readng, Mass.) and Kenny Clarke (Oakland, N.J.) and senior Denzel Livingston (Billerica, Mass.)  to win the 4x100m relay event with a time of 42.57, ranking second on the school record board and first in conference this season.

Braga would also post the lone individual first-place finish for the men in the long jump with a 6.85m jump, the second best mark in the event in the NE-10 this season.

On the women’s side, for junior captain Carly Muscaro (Ashland, Mass.), it was another week and another top-finish. Muscaro won the 200m dash at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with an NCAA provisionally-qualifying time of 24.28. Her time also broke her own facility record at the AIC Track Complex of 24.86, which she set as a freshman in 2014.

Rookies would shine for the women as well as freshman Mariessa Ricciardi (Holden, Mass.)finished sixth in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 59.68, ranking third on the school record board. Fellow freshman Tori Daigle (Dayton, Maine) posted a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a 11.14m jump, the second-best in program history and fifth-best in conference this season.

Junior standouts Sarah Barnett (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Olivia Downey (Melrose, Mass.)also continued their consistent performances to contribute to the women’s top-ten finish.  Downey posted a second-place finish in the high jump with a 1.60m jump, falling just shy of her own school record. Barnett would finish close behind Downey in the event with a fourth-place finish, while also posting a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a school-record 12.10m throw.
