CHN: ASU’s Powers Reacts to NCHC Expansion Decision

On Wednesday, the NCHC announced that it was not going to move forward with expansion “at this time.”

On of the programs in play for the NCHC was Arizona State, which will enter its second season as a Division I team this season and has been playing as an independent. CHN managing editor Adam Wodon spoke to Powers about the decision.

“It doesn’t make sense to announce that we’re going to do something two, three years down the road when there are programs discussing whether they’re going to exist,” Arizona State coach Greg Powers said.

“As we build our program, we have big-time programs that are coming here for the next three years. So it’s not like we’re struggling to get games. So, what’s the rush?”
