BOSTON, Mass. – Luis Cruz (Lawrence, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Merrimack College men’s cross country team as the Warriors took part in the Mayor’s Cup on Sunday, an individual race at Franklin Park in Boston.

How It Happened
Cruz once again led the Warriors, shaving 21 seconds off his time on this same track two weeks ago, finishing in 25:41 to take 36th overall out of 178 runners. Sherif Ali (Cliffside Park, N.J.) cross the line next for the Warriors, finishing in a tie for 56th place with a time of 26:28. Christian Gentile (Melrose, Mass.) ran the course in 26:37 to finish in a tie for 65th place. Phil Harris (Plymouth, Mass.) rounded out the Merrimack finishers in the top-100, taking 82nd place with a time of 26:52.
Other Merrimack participants, in order of finish, were Keith Steinbrecher (Wading River, N.Y.), Daniel O’Flynn (Ipswich, Mass.), TJ Curran, Jimmy Clark (Suffield, Conn.), Marshall Boles (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Jack Letellier (Eliot, Maine), Niall Coughlin (Castleton, N.Y.), and Joseph Pinto (Massapequa Park, N.Y.).

The Warriors will race in the Northeast-10 Championships on Nov. 9 at Franklin Pierce. The races are scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
