Senior captain Delaney Yule of the third-ranked Merrimack College field hockey program received her third Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week award in as many weeks on Tuesday when the NE10 unveiled its weekly award winners.
The Warriors’ starting center back led Merrimack with three goals and six points, while adding a defensive save to help the squad to a pair of NE10 victories at Saint Michael’s and against Franklin Pierce. The Southbury, Conn. native extended her career-best point to streak to five games with the two efforts, while her two-goal effort against the Ravens marked the first multi-goal effort of her career.
After totaling just one point through nine games, Yule owns 11 points over her last five on four goals and one assist. The senior set a new career best for points on Friday against the Ravens, eclipsing her total of 10 from last season. Yule also recorded her 12th career defensive save to move into the top five in program history.
Merrimack returns to action on Wednesday night when the Warriors host No. 7 Stonehill in a NE10 showdown at 7 p.m. from Duane Stadium.
