NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After a breakout sophomore season, junior defensive lineman Cory Hagerman of the Merrimack College football program was named a 2020 Preseason All-Conference selection during Thursday’s Northeast Conference (NEC) Virtual Media Day on Thursday.
Hagerman becomes the program’s first-ever NEC preseason all-conference selection. He represents a defensive line that returns its top-two pass rushers in Hagerman and fellow defensive end Nicholas Lenon as well as its entire starting defensive backfield to comprise a veteran group.
The Binghamton, N.Y. native is the NEC’s top returning sack artist, tying for the league lead one year ago with 9.5 sacks. He established a new career high in sacks while ranking among the top-20 nationally. Hagerman ended the year strong with a four-sack performance against Long Island University, which tied the program’s single-game record for sacks and garnered the defensive lineman NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Hagerman has already broken into the Merrimack record book, heading into his junior season in 10th place all-time in program history in both total sacks (12.0) and yards lost from sacks (70.0).
