Joe Clancy Signs with AFL’s L.A. Kiss

Former Merrimack College quarterback Joe Clancy has signed with the Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena Football League.

The two-time Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year and 2013 Harlon Hill Trophy regional finalist spent the preseason with the San Jose SaberCats (AFL). Clancy will be competing for playing time at quarterback with former National Football League (NFL) and Florida State standout Adrian McPherson.

The AFL also has a TV contract with ESPN and CBS Sports Network to air its games. The Kiss will be playing their next game on Friday, May 8, at 10 p.m. Eastern in front of a nationally televised audience on CBS Sports Network.

The AFL employs an 18-game, 20-week schedule for the regular season, with playoffs concluding in August.

The Kiss are owned by KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, and the team plays its home games at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Former Merrimack linebacker Shawn Loiseau appeared in five games for the Kiss last season.
