Merrimack QB Christian Carter Transfers to Western Illinois

Merrimack quarterback Christian Carter recently announced that he has transferred to Western Illinois.

A Baltimore native, Carter was Merrimack’s starting QB last season, throwing for 2095 yards and 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. A dual-threat QB, Carter also ran for 307 yards on 95 carries (3.2 YPC) with six touchdowns.

Carter was named the NE10 Rookie of the Year in 2018 after starting for the Warriors as a true freshman.

Over two seasons, Carter threw for 3,630 yards on 308-for-551 passing with 28 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. On the ground, he totaled 772 yards on 175 carries and eight touchdowns.

Merrimack will return quarterbacks Prince-Dru Bey (soph. in 2020) and Jack Esquivel (R-soph. in 2020).

Newcomers next season will include Henri Bourque out of Williston Northampton.

Western Illinois is a Division I FCS program in the Missouri Valley Conference; last season the Leathernecks went 1-11.
