Islanders Mourn the Loss of JJ Rosato ’07

The Islanders Hockey Club lost a member of its organization this past weekend, 8-year-old J.J. Rosato. There has been a memorial fund established for the family, which you can donate to by clicking here.

Islanders Hockey Club president Richard Gallant wrote an open letter on the program’s website:

We offer our deepest condolences to J.J.’s family.

Islander Family, Friends and Followers,

It is with great heart break that I have to inform all Islander Family and Friends of the loss of J.J. Rosato last evening in his sleep.  J.J. Rosato was an 8-year-old boy who loved the game of hockey and wore #8 as a member of the Islander 2007 Elite 2014/2015 team.  I was one of the fortunate people who got to spend a lot of time with J.J. and will never forget his everlasting smile every moment he spent at the rink.  J.J. spent yesterday doing what he loved best – playing a hockey game in the morning, having fun with family and friends in the afternoon and going to a Hockey East hockey game last night.  J.J.’s parents – Jim and Chelsea – are exemplary parents always providing support and fun for everyone with Chelsea’s highlight coloring of the boy’s hair during the Islander 2007 championship playoff run last year.  I ask all Islander Nation to say a prayer for J.J. and his family.
