The Merrimack men’s basketball team won the NEC regular-season championship last night with its over Central Connecticut State at Hammel Court.
Due to NCAA reclassification rules, the Warriors are ineligible for the NEC and NCAA postseason for this year, and the following three seasons.
But, that doesn’t mean the season is over for the Warriors.
Merrimack can play in the College Basketball Invitational or the College Insiders.com Tournament, two privately-run postseason tournaments. Merrimack has received an invite to at least the CIT.
Selection for the CBI and CIT is typically announced the same night as the NCAA Selection Show, which this season is scheduled to be held on March 15.
