2020 Attack Cooper Mehlhorn Commits to Merrimack

South Portland sophomore Cooper Mehlhorn fires a shot.

The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team picked up a big (and late) commitment from Trinity-Pawling post-grad attackman Cooper Mehlhorn. A Maine native, Mehlhorn was ranked as the No. 1 player in Maine last season while playing for South Portland High School. Over the course of his career at South Portland, Mehlhorn was a two-time All-American, two-time All-State, three-time All-Conference and a two-time team captain.

Mehlhorn has South Portland records in career goals (184) and career points (308). Last season, Mehlhorn finished with 53 goals and 30 assists.

“Cooper’s quickness open field speed and stick skills set him apart from rest of field,” said Mehlhorn’s high school coach, Tom Fiorini. “His lacrosse IQ is crazy off the charts. He’s always trying to come up with plays to help the team.”
