Charlie Bertrand Transferring to Virginia

Merrimack attacker Charlie Bertrand will transfer to Virginia next season as a grad transfer, Inside Lacrosse first reported and The Mack Report confirmed on Tuesday.

Bertrand has one season left of eligibility as a grad transfer. Inside Lacrosse reported that Bertrand chose Virginia over Delaware, Richmond and Notre Dame.

Bertrand was a two-time Division II Player of the Year and led Merrimack to two national championships. He finishes his Merrimack career with 210 goals and 64 assists. In 2019 Bertrand was the only Division II player on the Tewaaraton Award watch list and he was on the list again this season as the Warriors’ program transitioned to Division I. He is a three-time All-American, earning second-team recognition in 2017 as a freshman and first-team honors as a sophomore and junior.

Inside Lacrosse had Bertrand ranked as the No. 6 transfer available and the Hoos are also adding the top-ranked attackman recruit in Connor Shellenberger.
