Men’s Lacrosse’s Thomas, Vogt Earn NEC Weekly Awards

SOMERSET, N.J. – Merrimack College men’s lacrosse freshman goalie, Henry Vogt, was named NEC Rookie of the Week and senior attack, Christian Thomas, was tabbed the NEC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Vogt had a sensational performance Saturday afternoon against LIU. He made 14 saves, including three in the last few minutes to clinch a victory for the Warriors. He is now tied for fourth in the NEC with his .548 save percentage and is second in the nation among rookies.

Thomas had a Division I career-high day totaling six goals, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. He now has 113 career goals which is sixth in Warriors history and is just eight goals away from passing Greg Melugh 13′ for fifth.

The Warriors travel to Emmitsburg, Md. Saturday to take on Mount St. Mary’s. Face-off is set for 1:00 pm.
