Merrimack adds top defenseman, Gavin Levay for 2022

The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team picked up a commitment from 2022 defenseman Gavin Levay, who is currently one of the top poles on one of the top club teams in the nation.

Levay plays for Paul V| Catholic High School as well as the Madlax Capital 2022 team. According to scouting reports, he’s known for his physicality.

“Gavin plays with aggression and intensity, and he has incredible foot speed and change of direction athleticism,” said Madlax coach Bill McCulloch. “He could easily play as an LSM but is more effective as a close defender who can guard even the quickest and shiftiest X attackmen.  He was a starter on the Virginia state champion (Paul VI) as a freshman.”

Added Capital coach Neal Hicks, “Gavin sets the tone for us and his teams defensively with his aggressive and heavy style of play. The type of defenseman you see as an attackman and groan. Can take the life out of his matchup with caused turn overs that often go in transition the other way. High upside with his athleticism.”
