After collecting an automatic qualifier due to its Northeast-10 Championship over the weekend, the Merrimack College men’s tennis team learned on Tuesday night that it will be the third seed in the East Region of the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The Warriors landed in the pod hosted by second-seeded NYIT, and will take on Adelphi in a rematch of the NE-10 Final. The Panthers qualified for the tournament as an at-large and received the sixth seed.

The Warriors advance to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive season. Merrimack enters the tournament with an impressive 13-2 regional record, losing to only Concordia, the top seed, and NYIT during its regional slate. The Navy and Gold boast victories over District Columbia and Adelphi, two other squads advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
Merrimack won its fifth straight regular-season title after finishing 10-0 in the conference. The Warriors dispatched Bentley in the semifinals before winning the NE-10 Final, 5-4, in thrilling fashion on the Panthers. Merrimack trailed 2-1 after doubles and 4-3 at one point in singles before collecting victories at No. 1 and No. 6 to win the match.
After losing to Merrimack on Saturday, Adelphi fell to 10-5 overall. The Panthers entered the week as the seventh-ranked team in the East Region, but jumped to the No. 6 seed after nearly upsetting the Warriors.
The other pod in the region includes top-ranked Concorida (N.Y.). Fourth-seed Queens College will host the pod. They take on fifth-seed Chesnut Hill in the first round, with the victor advancing to face the Clippers.
The preliminary rounds are set to begin on Saturday, with NYIT hosting the event at the LIU Post Tennis Courts. The winners of #2 NYIT/#7 UDC and #3 Merrimack/#6 Adelphi will advance to play each other on Sunday at 2 p.m.
