FITCHBURG, Mass. — Three wins by the Merrimack College men’s track and field team helped lead the Warriors on Saturday at the Jim Sheehan Memorial, hosted by Fitchburg State. Merrimack’s 4×100 relay team won its event with a time of 43.12 seconds while sophomore John Braga(North Reading, Mass.) won the long jump with a leap of 6.97 meters and freshman Keith Steinbrecher (Wading River, N.Y.) won the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:10.77.

How It Happened
Senior Anthony Arcari (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished second for the Warriors in the 100 dash, crossing the line in 11.49 seconds, which was just 0.11 seconds off the leader. The Warriors also had a pair of top-10 finishers in the 800 meters when freshman Connor Murphy (Paxton, Mass.)took fourth and senior Luis Cruz (Lawrence, Mass.)finished eighth with times of 1:57.75 and 2:01.82.

In the 10,000 meter run, the Warriors took third and fourth place. Sophomore Phil Harris (Plymouth, Mass.) finished third with a time of 33:21.23 while junior Evan Vadenais(Millville, Mass.) finished fourth in 33:22.88.

John Spencer (North Haven, Conn.) finished second in the 110 hurdles in 16.34 seconds. In the men’s javelin, Tommy Drover (Peabody, Mass.) finished third with a throw of 52.98 meters.

Up Next
Merrimack will travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, next weekend to take part in the Moravian College Invitational. The meet will run all day on Saturday.
