Ivy League Cancels Entire Spring Season; Affects Several Merrimack Teams

The Ivy League is canceling all spring sports for the 2019-20 school year, a decision made in the wake of the conference’s cancellation of its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Ivy League said in its statement Wednesday that the decision of the member university presidents was unanimous.

The decision will affect some Merrimack teams. Men’s lacrosse was scheduled to face Yale on March 31 and track and field was to take part in the Penn Relays. Women’s lacrosse was supposed to face Harvard on Monday (the game was scheduled for NESN) and softball has a series with Dartmouth scheduled for April.
