Merrimack College received a verbal commitment from ’98-born defenseman Zach Vinnell on Thursday.
Vinnell is in his third season with the Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL) this season, where has he eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in the team’s first nine games. Last season, the 6-foot-1 defender had 39 points (8 goals, 31 assists) in 59 games for the Kodiaks.
A native of Cochrane, Alberta, Vinnell played his bantam hockey with the Bow Valley Timberwolves and then joined the AC Avalanche and UFA Bisons midget program.
Vinnell is a veteran of 122 AJHL games, scoring 12 goals and adding 63 assists for 75 points.
Vinnell continues a long tradition of Kodiaks committing to the Warriors. Former Kodiaks who have played for Merrimack include current Merrimack junior Cole McBride, Karl Stollery, Chris Barton, Jesse Todd and Clayton Jardine.
