Merrimack senior forward Brett Seney has been named our 2018 TMR Player of the Year after leading the Warriors in scoring during the 2017-18 hockey season.
Seney is now a two-time winner of the TMR Player of the Year Award, after collecting the honor in 2016. Seney is the first player to win two Player of the Year Awards since Mike Collins won back-to-back Player of the Year Awards in 2013 and 2014. Seney becomes the third two-time winner in the award’s history, joining Collins and Stephane Da Costa (2010, 2011).
Seney finished with a team-high 32 points this season, tying for the team lead with 13 goals (along with Ludvig Larsson) and finishing second on the Warriors with 19 assists. Seney led the team in power-play goals (7) and was second on the team with 88 shots.
After the conclusion of his senior season, Seney signed with the New Jersey Devils, the team that drafted him in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. Seney’s entry-level contract will begin next season; he spent the remainder of the 2017-18 season with the Binghamton Devils in the AHL, scoring eight points (3g, 5a) in 12 games. Seney was centering the Devils’ top line by the end of the season.
