Former Merrimack goaltender has signed with IK Oskarshamn in Sweden’s top division (SHL) after spending last season with IF Björklöven in the Allsvenskan league.

Last season with IF Björklöven, Cannata appeared in 41 games and posted a 1.72 GAA and a .938 save percentage.

It was a good first season in Sweden for me and the team,” Cannata told ikoskarshamn.se. “It took a while to get used to the Swedish type of matches and the bigger rink, but now I feel like I’ve gotten into it. It’s sad that the season ended the way it did, but now I’m looking ahead.”

According to the report, Cannata signed a two-year deal with Oskarshamn.

Oskarhamn showed their interest early on and I have got a very good picture of the club,” he said. “For example, I’ve talked to Alex (Hutchings) since he’s played for the club before. He only said good things and after conversations with my agent and Thomas (Fröberg) there was really not much more to do than sign. It feels very good.”
