Declan Carlile Wins 2020 TMR Rookie of the Year Award

Merrimack freshman defenseman Declan Carlile was voted as the 2020 TMR Rookie of the Year. The TMR awards are annual awards voted on by readers of The Mack Report.

Carlile finished his rookie season third on the team in scoring with 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) in 34 games, finishing just three points shy of the program’s rookie defenseman scoring record (in the D-I era). Carlile’s 22 points also led all blueliners in scoring this season. Carlile had the best shooting percentage (9.5%) among defensemen this season.

Carlile becomes the first defenseman to win the award since Johnathan Kovacevic in 2017 and he’s only the second defenseman in The Mack Report‘s 14-year history to win the Rookie of the Year award.

The official team awards will be handed out at the program’s banquet.
