Defenseman Nolan Barrett commits to Merrimack

Merrimack has received a commitment from 2000-born defenseman Nolan Barrett, a New Jersey native who is currently playing for Skipjacks Hockey U18 team in the USPHL.

In 17 games this season, the 6-foot-1 defenseman has 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) from the blue line. Prior to joining Skipjacks, Barrett two seasons with the Selects Academy, where he won USPHL 16U and 18U championships. Barrett also has played for the New Jersey Hitmen (2015-16) and Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey).

Barrett also played for the East Coast Selects at the 2015 World Selects International tournament (which also included Oliver Wahlstrom, Joel Farabee and Mathias Pettersen, among others). Barrett also appeared in two USA Hockey Select camps and played for the Elite Hockey Group in the 2016 OHL Cup.

Barrett was selected in the 10th round of the 2016 USHL Draft by the Youngstown Phantoms.
