Devlin O’Brien verbally commits to Merrimack


Devlin O’Brien, a 2002-born forward from Toronto, verbally committed to the Merrimack men’s hockey program on Friday. O’Brien is a teammate of Merrimack recruit Mark Hillier at St. Andrew’s College in Ontario.

O’Brien has appeared in 55 games this season, scoring 28 goals and adding 36 assists for 64 points. O’Brien was a fifth-round selection of the Mississauga Steeleads in the OHL Priority Selection Draft.

NeutralZone.net has O’Brien rated as a four-star recruit.

“Strong, balanced stride,” the recruiting site wrote on its Twitter account. “Shifty and can separate with possession. Low center of gravity and great ability to possess the puck. Processes options quickly and drives the cage. Block shots; high compete in every situation.”

O’Brien, 16, appeared in 33 games for the Mississauga Reps Midget AAA team last season, scoring 21 goals and adding 26 assists.
