Merrimack College defenseman Zach Uens has been selected in the fourth round (No. 105 overall) by the Florida Panthers in Tuesday’s NHL Draft.
Uens, who is entering his sophomore season, had four goals and 14 assists as a freshman on the blue line for the Warriors. The 6-foot-1 defenseman was ranked by NHL Central Scouting and had a surge in his draft stock during his freshman season with the Warriors.
The 19-year-old returns as one of Merrimack’s top two defensemen along with Declan Carlile, who is also eligible to be drafted today. Merrimack recruit Mark Hillier and Alex Jefferies are also waiting to see if their names will be called as the NHL conducts rounds 2-7 today.
