Holway signs ATO with Detroit AHL affiliate

Merrimack senior defenseman Patrick Holway has signed an amateur tryout offer with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

Holway was drafted by the Red Wings in the 2015 NHL Draft. He finished this past season with nine points (3g, 6a) in 18 games. Including the games he played while a member of the Maine Black Bears, Holway finished his college career with 101 appearances and he compiled 16 goals and 35 assists.

The Griffins are in the midst of a playoff chase, as they sit in second place in the central division, just five points back of the division-leading Chicago Wolves.
The team is in action Friday night as it takes on the Iowa Wild in the first of a two-game set in Des Moines.
