Merrimack forward Logan Coomes will graduate transfer to Alaska Fairbanks next season. Coomes, 22, completed his junior year at Merrimack this past season and finished with nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 30 games.

Coomes is familiar with Fairbanks, having played for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the North American Hockey League prior to joining the Warriors in 2016.

Coomes should slide in well onto a roster that returns most of its scoring from last season (Alaska’s top-seven scorers all return). The Nanooks finished this past season 12-21-3 (12-14-2 in the WCHA) and in seventh place in the WCHA. The Nanooks fell to Northern Michigan in the WCHA Quarterfinal, losing two one-goal games (including a double-overtime loss in the first game).
