Malden Catholic junior forward Mike Iovanna (’94), who scored the game-winning goal in last month’s Super 8 final against B.C. High, has committed to Massachusetts. He’s slated for the incoming class of 2013. It’s not known whether he will return to the Lancers for his senior season or play elsewhere next season.

A linemate of BU recruit Bredan Collier and BC recruit Ryan Fitzgerald, Iovanna, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound winger, totaled 47 points (15 goals, 22 assists) this past season.

    • Not necessarily. Last I heard (February’ish) the chatter was that he might want to stick around another year in junior to get stronger. He’s getting a lot of pressure from WHL teams, I’m sure, but a scout told me that the family seems committed to college.
