Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Place 14 on ACHA All-Academic Team

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.— The Merrimack College men’s and women’s ice hockey programs had 14 student-athletes honored as American Hockey Coaches Association Krampade All American Scholars, as announced by the ACHA Tuesday.

Student-athletes had to earn a minimum 3.75 GPA for the fall semester, and participate in 40 percent of their team’s games to qualify, with exceptions made for backup goaltenders and players with injuries.

Recognized for the men were freshman forward Ben Brar, freshman defenseman Liam Dennison, senior forward and captain Tyler Irvine, senior forward Griff Jeszka, freshman goaltender Troy Kobryn, freshman forward Ryan Nolan, and freshman forward Liam Walsh.

For the women, senior goaltender Lea-Kristine Demers, freshman goaltender Emma Gorski, junior forward Jessica Jacques, freshman forward Katie Kaufman and freshman forward Allison Reeb.

Brar, Dennison and Jeszka, as well as Demers and Kaufman, were previously recognized on the Hockey East All-Academic All-Star team for earning a 4.0 GPA during the year.

The women’s team earned a 3.48 overall combined GPA for the 2019-20 year, while the men achieved a 3.54 overall combined GPA for the year.
