The following comes from the Merrimack athletics department:
For the first time ever, the Merrimack hockey team will play a mid-week day-game when it hosts the Under-20 Sweden National Team on Tuesday, November 2 at 12 p.m. with free tickets available for all fans.
The exhibition contest will be only the third collegiate hockey game ever played in the newly renovated Lawler Arena, and Merrimack’s third home game of the season will allow many a unique opportunity to experience the new Arena and catch some great hockey action on a weekday afternoon.
Merrimack will also open up the rink for a free open skate for all attending immediately following the game.
With many area schools closed for Voting Day across Massachusetts on November 2, the Merrimack Athletic Department invites all children and their families to enjoy their day off at Lawler Arena free of charge and come cheer for the Warriors.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for our fans and the entire Merrimack Valley community to see our hockey team in action against a very talented national team from Sweden,” said Athletic Director Glenn Hofmann. “We encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote on November 2 and then head to Merrimack to fill Lawler Arena with hundreds of young students and their families and experience first-hand a Merrimack home game at the all-new Lawler Arena.”
In addition to the free open skating session for everyone, all fans under 12 will receive a commemorative Sweden vs. Merrimack poster and are also invited to meet members of both teams in an autograph and meet-and-greet session following the game.
Free tickets to the November 2 exhibition game vs. Sweden are available on a first come-first served basis, and can be picked up in advance at the Lawler Arena box office beginning Monday, October 4, with a limit of 8 tickets per person.
Youth and community groups with more than eight people can register in advance with our group sales office and will be recognized on the Lawler Arena video board and are also eligible to tour the Merrimack locker room. Youth hockey teams interested in participating in a scrimmage between periods are also asked to contact the group sales office. The group sales and box office can be reached at 978-837-5234 for more group and individual ticket information.
Any tickets still available on game day will be distributed at Lawler Arena beginning at 9 a.m. The Lawler Arena Box Office is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
