Merrimack’s season ends prematurely due to COVID protocols

The Merrimack men’s hockey season is over.

The Warriors were set to play Vermont for two games this weekend and then return to the Hockey East playoffs next Wednesday, but the Warriors will not be able to continue with their season due to Tier I personnel entering Hockey East’s COVID protocol.

Hockey East confirmed that Tier I personnel had entered the COVID protocol and this weekend’s games were canceled. A source said that the Warriors would also not compete in the Hockey East playoffs next week.

Merrimack will finish the season 5-11-2; the Warriors were 4-4-2 in their last 10 games and had climbed into eighth place in Hockey East, which would have earned the Warriors home ice in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs.
