Minor Deemed NEC Rookie of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Following a successful weekend at the River Hawk Invitational that featured a pair of victories for the Merrimack College men’s basketball team, freshman forward Jordan Minor was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career.

Minor averaged 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game last weekend, helping Merrimack to victories over UMass Lowell and Jacksonville University. The big man shot 10-of-18 (.505) from the field over the three games while connecting on his first two career 3-pointers.

The Kingston, Mass. native’s best performance came against the Dolphins on Sunday when he scored a career-best 15 points off the bench for Merrimack. He made six of his nine field-goal attempts while shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. He played in 22 minutes on Sunday, his third game this season with at least 20 minutes off the bench.

Minor and the Warriors return to action tomorrow evening when they face Providence College at 7 p.m. at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.
